Service Description

Mental illness is a health condition which affects and changes a person’s emotions, thinking or their behaviour. This can cause distress and affect the person ability to function at work, with friends and family or in social activities. 1 in 5 Australians suffer from a mental illness in a given year. This means that it is highly likely that you will know someone who is experiencing a mental health problem. It is vital that we have more people in the community to recognise those experiencing mental health to ensure that they receive the help and support they deserve. This is where Mental Health First Aid can assist. Mental Health first aid is a two day course designed to teach you how to help a person who is experiencing mental health issues. This training will teach you the skills for early-intervention, as well as providing you with the knowledge and confidence to recognise, connect and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Everyone can start a conversation. This conversation may just save a life. **Attendance for participants is required on both days to complete requirements for accreditation**
